In September 2024, the President of the Network of Women with Disabilities (NWD), alongside our farm managers, successfully carried out the harvest of groundnuts cultivated on our farmland in Saka, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
This harvest represents a significant milestone in our agricultural initiative. It reflects the tangible outcomes of sustained, inclusive farming practices led and supported by women with disabilities. Beyond the yield itself, the exercise demonstrates the power of collective effort, strategic farm management, and community-driven development.
The groundnuts harvested will contribute meaningfully to local food supply and serve as a source of income generation. Proceeds and value-added opportunities from the harvest will further strengthen agribusiness engagement among our members, enhancing economic independence and long-term sustainability.
This achievement underscores NWD’s unwavering commitment to building resilient livelihoods, strengthening local food systems, and expanding inclusive economic opportunities for women with disabilities. Through initiatives like this, we continue to promote empowerment, productivity, and shared prosperity within our communities.
