On 19th December 2023, to the glory of God, the Network of Women with Disabilities (NWD) proudly celebrated the 50th birthday of Mrs. Rita Ijenyo in a truly remarkable and impactful manner.
Although Mrs. Ijenyo resides in the United States, she chose to commemorate her golden jubilee by giving back meaningfully to members of NWD. In a generous gesture of empowerment, she sponsored the registration of 20 businesses for 20 members of the Network under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
This initiative was made possible through the invaluable support of her sister, Madam Glory, who facilitated the registration process, and the dedicated coordination of Janet Alabede.
This milestone celebration not only marked a personal achievement but also created lasting economic opportunities for members of NWD. It was indeed a fitting way to conclude the year on a high note.

Programme Outcome and Impact
The successful registration of 20 businesses represents a significant milestone in advancing economic inclusion and self-reliance among women with disabilities. Through this initiative:
- 20 members are now legally recognized business owners, positioned to operate formally within Nigeria’s regulatory framework.
- Beneficiaries can now open corporate bank accounts, access grants, loans, and investment opportunities, and participate in larger business transactions.
- The programme has strengthened members’ confidence, financial independence, and entrepreneurial capacity.
- It has enhanced the visibility of women with disabilities as active contributors to economic development.
- The initiative has laid a foundation for sustainable livelihoods and long-term economic empowerment within the Network.
Overall, the programme has moved beneficiaries from informal participation to formal economic inclusion, creating opportunities for growth, stability, and expanded impact in their respective communities.
